Shard Bugs TCG Q&A – December 2025 Community Update

The Shard Bugs TCG December 2025 Q&A gave players, collectors, and local game stores a clear look at where the game is headed in 2026. From tournament plans and organized play to conventions, new cards, and long-term goals, this update answered many of the most common community questions.

Here’s a full recap of the key takeaways.

Tournament Plans and Competitive Play in 2026

Shard Bugs TCG will continue hosting 1K tournaments in 2026, though the total number may be slightly reduced compared to 2025. The focus moving forward is on quality, structure, and consistency, including partnerships with professional event organizers.

The team also confirmed plans to bring back large-scale events, including a return of the 10K tournament, alongside four professionally organized major events next year.

As the card pool continues to grow, best-of-three match formats will be introduced, particularly at larger competitive events. This change is designed to support deeper strategy and a more robust competitive environment.

Draft, Casual Play, and Starter Deck Updates

Draft and casual play remain an important part of Shard Bugs TCG’s growth. A mainstream draft event is planned for Miami TCG Con, where players will receive packs to draft on-site, making it easy for new players to participate.

Starter and preconstructed decks will continue to release with each core set. These are being reworked into a new product line with improved pricing, making it easier for players to jump into the game and for stores to support learn-to-play events.

Convention Schedule and Community Outreach

The team confirmed several upcoming convention appearances focused on demos, community building, and industry growth, including:

These events will feature learn-to-play demos, product showcases, and opportunities to connect directly with players, creators, and retailers.

New Artists, Card Spoilers, and Accessories

New artists are continuing to join the project, including Seb (formerly of MetaZoo), expanding the visual identity of the game.

During the Q&A, three card spoilers were revealed:

  • Mobua's Devoted

  • Fog of War

  • Lunarian Ritualist

Each card was discussed in terms of gameplay impact and strategic use.

New accessories are also on the way, including playmats tied to the First Bounty and Infestation sets, with select retailer-exclusive versions planned.

Local Game Stores and Distribution Strategy

Shard Bugs TCG will continue using a direct distribution model, allowing for stronger relationships with local game stores and healthier margins for retailers.

Community members are encouraged to suggest potential LGS partners via Discord or direct outreach. Organized play support is already in place through weekly store play, monthly events, and an online Discord/TTS league.

Plans are also underway to expand online availability through platforms such as TCGplayer, along with select online sellers in 2026.

Looking Ahead: Development and Long-Term Goals

The roadmap moving forward includes:

  • Three core sets plus one mini set per year

  • Continued support for limited and draft-style formats

  • Strategic print planning to support growth without overprinting

  • A target of 100 LGS partners by the end of 2026

  • Ongoing monthly Q&A videos to keep the community informed

The focus remains on sustainable growth, strong organized play, and maintaining a close connection with the Shard Bugs community.
